Planning and Trial

Plan your wedding, hairstyle, make-up and wedding dress well in advance.

These four things must all work together and you don’t want to find at the last minute that something conflicts with something else.

Why have a mobile hairdresser?

No more rushing around on your wedding day, going to a salon in all weathers, getting stuck in traffic, trying to find parking.

Just sit back and relax and I’ll come to you in the comfort of your own home and cater for the whole bridal party.

'Why go to the salon? when the salon can come to you!'

Your Trial

I always advise a trial before your wedding as this gives the bride peace of mind, and the preparation at the trial saves invaluable time on the actual day.

The trial will involve a thorough consultation to find a style you like.  A practical demonstration will take place to show different styles.

It’s a good idea to have a trial well in advance which would allow for growing your hair for a style, improving the condition of your hair with conditioning treatments and getting any hair accessories you might need.

A picture of your dress is useful as this gives an idea of any particular wedding theme or style when deciding on your hair.

If you already have chosen your tiara, veil or accessories, it is good to have them at your trial as they will help decide your hairstyle.  If you haven’t got any yet then don’t worry,  it can be just as good to decide on your hair then get accessories etc to compliment your chosen style.

A trial usually lasts between one and two hours.  If you wish for the bridesmaids and/or mothers to have a trial at the same time, this will take longer so we need to bare this in mind when booking.  If they don’t want a trial but would still like to see you have your hair styled, that’s not a problem.

It’s not always possible to get all the bridesmaids together before the wedding, if this is the case I would like a photo of them with their hair as it normally is, we can then decide on their styles for the big day.

We would need to talk about timings, I will then be able to co-ordinate with the make-up artist and photographer. (See my links)

First steps

Firstly you need to contact me to see if I’m available. Arrange a trial if you are having one.

Take a look at my gallery for some ideas.

Start collecting pictures from magazines etc.

Get some ideas

Save pictures of styles you both like and dislike, even if you like the front of one style and the back of another as I can often adapt a style to get a look that you really want and one that suits your hair. Be open to new ideas and advice and take into consideration your dress, head-dress, height, style of wedding etc. Be realistic on whether your hair is straight/long/thick enough for the style you like.

Tiara’s and veils

These should compliment your hairstyle but not hide it.  If you have chosen a large floor length veil your hairstyle needs to be sturdy enough to hold its shape until you take the veil off.  Some veils look better sat at the back off the head under a mass of curls or bun. As a rule the hair shouldn’t be worn longer than the veil.

Beads, jewels and flowers

These are popular and effective giving extra sparkle and colour which can tie in with your colour scheme and jewellery.

Pins and hairgrips with sparkling gems in the ends have a lovely effect.

Small flowers scattered amongst curls or wired to a comb can co-ordinate with dress colours and bouquets.

On the Day

Never shampoo or use conditioning treatments on the wedding day. Make sure the bridal party wears button or zip-up clothes.  This will ensure you don’t mess up your style when you get changed. I will arrive in plenty of time to get everyone ready and will not leave until you all look perfect.
